Area Guide
The hotel is set right at the heart of Sils-Maria, one of the most beautiful and best-preserved villages in the Engadin. Within just a few steps from the hotel, you can start discovering the charming village center with its traditional Engadin-style houses, small local shops, and for coffee and cakes– the very good Hauser's confiserie. The Nietzsche-Haus Museum– wherein the famous philosopher spent several summers– is a five-minute walk away and surely recommended to have a bit of cultural history.
For nature lovers, it’s a must-visit. A pretty 10-15 minute walk in the woods will get you to the beautiful shores of either Lake Sils or Lake Silvaplana. These crystal-clear alpine lakes offer some great walks along their borders. In summer, you can book a boat and make a trip out onto Lake Sils, which holds the honor of being Europe’s highest. One such very, very special spot is that of the Fex Valley (Val Fex), virgin and completely car-free, which actually starts right at the fringes of the village. You may take a long walk through this quiet valley for hours with no traffic energy to stop you from taking a break at little villages for lunch.
In addition to this, with in 15 minutes’ walk the Furtschellas cable car connects winter and summer mountain access from the hotel up to the Corvatsch skiing and hiking area with these breathtaking views and trail system. The very main cross-country ski trails run right past the village as an exemplary proof is in immediate access to the famous Engadin Skimarathon route. It stands offering every kind of outdoor sport, right from the hotel door, a real outstanding set up for all.
